Pro Voice/Pro Voz, Inc honored Dent along with seven other women of color leaders for their contributions to the community, private sector, media, politics and other professional fields.

Sabrina E. Dent (DMin), director of admissions and recruitment at the Religious Freedom Center of the Freedom Forum Institute, was among Pro Voice/Pro Voz’s honorees in a Tuesday, Dec. 18, evening awards reception at the University Club DC. Pro Voice/Pro Voz, Inc, an international movement impacting women of color and faith, honored Dent along with seven other women of color leaders for their contributions to the community, private sector, media, politics and other professional fields.

In addition to assisting students and partner school personnel, Sabrina leads the Religious Freedom Center’s new initiative for community-based workshops, graduate course intensives and the Summer Bootcamp program.  Sabrina is also the lead organizer and co-instructor for a 3-year project funded by the Henry Luce Foundation to develop scholarship about African Americans and religious freedom with the six Historically Black Theological Institutions. This collaborative project will result in week-long intensive courses, seminars, symposia and other public programs. The project launched on Oct. 29, 2018 with a program titled Race, Religious Freedom and the Politics of Belonging, which explored the complex politics of race and religion in the United States.

Before coming to the Religious Freedom Center, Sabrina served as program coordinator for the Doctor of Ministry Program at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Additionally, she worked in the Office of Graduate Admissions where she assisted prospective students in discerning their call to theological education while navigating the application process.

Sabrina recently earned her Doctor of Ministry degree focusing on interfaith and race relations at Virginia Union University where she received her Master of Divinity degree.

The Religious Freedom Center of the Freedom Forum Institute is a nonpartisan national initiative focused on educating the public about the religious liberty principles of the First Amendment.

The Religious Freedom Center has sponsored numerous public programs at the Newseum, developed partnerships with national and international organizations and convened a broad range of religious and civil liberties groups. The mission of the Religious Freedom Center is twofold: to educate the public about the history, meaning and significance of religious freedom, and to promote dialogue and understanding among people of all religions and none.
