Chipsters make the scene at the 2017 EIJ conference

Several Chipsters were speakers at the 2017 Excellence in Journalism conference in Anaheim, Calif., Sept. 7-9. The annual conference is a joint gathering of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television Digital News Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, in cooperation with the Native American Journalists Association.

The Chipsters who made presentations were:

  • Cindy Carcamo/@thecindycarcamo (Summer 1999), immigration reporter, Los Angeles Times
  • Adolfo Flores/@aflores (Summer 2009), national security correspondent for immigration, BuzzFeed News
  • Mary Hudetz/@marymhudetz (Summer 2007), criminal justice reporter, The Associated Press
  • Allissa Richardson/@DrAlliRich (Summer 2007), assistant professor, University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism
  • Iliana Limón Romero/@osiliana (Summer 2002), editor of college sports and professional soccer, Orlando Sentinel

In addition, Tomas Rodriguez/@TomRodriguez94 (Summer 2017) was a staff writer for the Latino Reporter, the NAJA publication that features the work of student journalists who cover the EIJ conference.
