A Farewell to John Quinn

Family, friends, former colleagues and alumni of the Chips Quinn Scholars program gathered in Carolina, R.I., on July 15 to pay tribute to and say farewell to John C. Quinn. At the wake at John’s beloved Mill, CQS alumni Rick Jervis (1993) and Talia Buford (2004) shared memories of JCQ and his impact on their careers. Mass was celebrated nearby at St. Mary’s Church, where John’s grandchildren Stephen and Amelia Cellar delivered heartfelt eulogies filled with childhood memories and lessons learned. The group proceeded to White Brook Cemetery, John’s final resting place alongside his late wife Loie and their sons, John “Chips” Quinn Jr. and Christopher “Kiffer” Quinn. After a brief gravesite service, all were invited to return to the Mill to celebrate – and toast – the one and only, late, great John C. Quinn. Between toasts, CQS alumni had an opportunity to visit “Chips’ corner,” a makeshift tribute to the CQS program created by John and located on the Mill property.

  1. John was a great man and his legacy will forever continue through every “Quinn” who had the pleasure and opportunity to serve under his awesome leadership!
