Newseum and Newseum Institute Appoint New Trustees

NewseumToday, the Newseum has announced the appointment of four new trustees: Karen Appleton Page, R. David Edelman, Murray Garnick, and Julie Henderson. Edelman also joins the Newseum Institute’s board of trustees.

Appleton Page is currently in a senior role at a prominent Silicon Valley technology company. Her vast experience in the technology field includes nine years at Box, where as senior vice president for industries and founder of, she played a significant role in the company’s expansion. Prior to this role, she was vice president of business development at Prosper Marketplace.

Edelman served for six years in leading technology positions at the White House, most recently as Special Assistant to the President for Economic & Technology Policy at the National Economic Council (NEC), where he managed technology, media, and competition policy. He previously served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Science & Technology Policy (OSTP) and as the first Director for International Cyber Policy at the National Security Council (NSC).

Garnick is deputy general counsel for Altria Client Services LLP (ALCS), where he leads the legal support for sales, marketing, regulation and product development and intellectual property matters, and supervises the management of tobacco, health and other litigation brought against Altria Group and its operating companies throughout the country. He first joined ALCS in 2008, prior to which he was a senior partner at Arnold & Porter.

Henderson is the executive vice president and chief communications officer for 21st Century Fox, where she is responsible for managing the Company’s global reputation among its key stakeholders. As the chief spokesperson for the Company, Henderson leads all global corporate affairs and social impact initiatives, and works across the company’s television, film, sports and news businesses. She also served as senior vice president at MPRM Communications, where she led the firm’s technology practice from 1994 to 2006.
