Newseum Q&A: Charlie Hebdo

The Newseum Institute’s Gene Policinski hosted a town hall discussion Jan. 18 about free speech and religious liberty in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo tragedy. The conversation with Dr. John Watson, director of the journalism division of American University School of Communication, and Corey Saylor, national legislative director of the Council on American Islamic Relations, explored the role of satirical publications in the Internet era and the question of whether journalists should broadcast potentially offensive material like the Prophet Mohammed cartoons.
